From the time he was nine years old, Dave Rosenfield has been consumed with baseball. Listening to the radio broadcast of the 1938 World Series sparked a life-long love affair with the game which has grown stronger nearly 75 years later. His love of baseball resulted in a journey that has seen him forge a career in professional baseball that has spanned nearly 60 years. The stories of Dave’s life in and around the game are priceless artifacts of one of the industry’s true living legends. He’s done it all in the game. His stories prove it and he’s the main character.
The Ambassador of Tides Baseball
During tonight’s 1-0 loss to the Gwinnett Braves in which the Tides struggled to get only 2 hits, the game was not a complete loss as I spent time with one of the finest baseball men in the game. Prior to the start of the game, Tides outgoing General Manager Dave Rosenfield and I discussed the current team, past Tides members, and the future of Tides baseball. While Dave may be stepping down, he will still be heavily involved in the organization and will most likely come to the office an hour later than he has in the past he jokingly stated. Dave is a much loved man around the park and while he will be turning over the GM duties officially, he will never be far apart from the Tides and our hearts. See you behind home plate Dave…
